Stuart Sutton, B.Comm, CFP® is a recognized financial educator, author, speaker, a co-creator of the Abundant Retirement Process TM, and a Wealth Advisor at Sutton Wealth Planning, with a specialized focus on family businesses, whom you may have seen featured in The Business Advisor and Thrive magazines.
As a second-generation business owner himself, Stuart has found his niche helping family businesses. Stuart and his team have been showing business owners, professionals and executives how to preserve, protect and pass on their wealth for over 25 years and has released his special report titled “5 Serious Barriers to your Retirement Plans” (made available by request) helping Canadians experience the peace of mind they need to enjoy life on their own terms.
Stuart originally joined the family business out of his passion to help people more fully enjoy their hard-earned wealth. He is a warm and passionate communicator with a “down-home” style who loves to share his financial wisdom and insights as a presenter to many organizations, such as his church (Calvary Church in Eastview), the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and Teen Challenge Saskatchewan, among others.
Having spent most of his life in Saskatoon, Stuart graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan, with a major in Finance. Stuart shares his leadership experience as a board member at Calvary Associated Gospel Church, Impact Canada Ministries and Family Business Association Saskatoon, and he is a past treasurer of Saskatoon Youth For Christ. He has also been involved with Family Business Association Saskatoon (formerly known as the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise), who recognized Sutton Financial Group with the national Family Enterprise of the Year Award in 2016.
Stuart has been married to Keri since 1995 and they have three daughters, Ella, Abby and Emmy. Stuart and his family enjoy reading, travelling and camping at Waskesiu and Memorial Lake, as well as mountain biking, and fishing at Besnard Lake. By far, Stuart and Keri get the most enjoyment from spending time watching their girls perform at hockey tournaments, dance recitals and Saskatoon Children’s Choir concerts.

Jay Stark, B.Comm., CFP® is a recognized financial educator, author, speaker, co-creator of the Abundant Retirement Process TM, and a wealth advisor at Sutton Wealth Planning, with a specialized focus on Philanthropy, whom you may have seen on CTV Saskatoon and in The Star Phoenix and Thrive magazine. He has his Christian Financial Counselor designation, is a member of the NSBA, Family Business Association Saskatoon, and has been appointed to the Saskatoon Community Foundation Board. He is also the Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners Saskatchewan chapter, which focuses on growth and development of strategic charitable gift planning in Canada.
Jay has been successfully advising individuals, families and business owners on how to significantly reduce their income and estate taxes for more than 20 years. He delivers distinctive presentations and has released his special report, titled “The 7 Mistakes Canadians Make When Giving to Charities” (made available by request) expanding on these key strategies and how to take full advantage of the tax incentives our government has created to encourage charitable giving. His counsel and expertise have helped hundreds of families realize their goals of giving back and create a lasting legacy.
Jay is intentional about positively impacting a number of different communities. From meeting his family’s sponsored child in Nicaragua through Compassion Canada, to being a Kinsmen member and working behind the scenes on their Telemiracle committee, he has experienced firsthand the impact on families that have benefited from our province’s generosity. Jay has also served as the past chair of the Lakeview Church Board and the Free Methodist Foundation of Canada Board as well as the past co-chair of the KHL – an inner city hockey program targeting children that would not normally have the opportunity to play the sport.
Jay has been married to his high school sweetheart, Sheri, for over 20 years, and they have two daughters, Lexie and Sydney, as well as their family dog, a Golden Labrador named Ginger. Jay gives back to his family by coaching and supporting his daughter’s sports teams and sharing his odd dad humour. He encourages social awareness and community support in his family by donating to local and global charities together. Jay and his family love to explore by going on long canoe adventures in Northern Saskatchewan, being sure to stop at Barker Island, a favourite spot they visit each year. The Chicago Blackhawks are his favourite hockey team; however, he prefers to play sports, rather than watch them, with hockey, softball and zip lining being his favourite activities.

Tim Hansen, B.Comm., CFP®, CEA is a recognized financial educator, author, speaker, a co-creator of the Abundant Retirement Process TM, and a Wealth Advisor at Sutton Wealth Planning, whom you may have seen in Thrive magazine and at speaking engagements for Family Business Association Saskatoon, Advocis National Conference and Praxis School of Entrepreneurship. For the past several years, Tim has been a mentor in the Raj Manek Mentorship Program, which pairs experienced business mentors with young entrepreneurs.
Tim has been helping successful families and business owners with their retirement planning to preserve, protect and pass on their wealth for over 15 years. In addition to his role as a Wealth Advisor with Sutton Wealth Planning, Tim is also a Partner and Pension Advisor with Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc. working alongside his wife Andrea to help businesses build toward their total rewards business strategies.
Tim believes that when your wealth is in control of you, the experience of confusion, fear and worry is something you have the power to take that control over to fulfill your dreams. And he is passionate about helping his clients achieve a unique impact, while enjoying lifestyle freedom and peace of mind about their wealth.
Originally from Theodore, Saskatchewan, Tim graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2001 with a Bachelor of Commerce. Tim is a member of Advocis, as well as the NSBA, Chamber of Commerce, and Benefits Alliance.
Tim and Andrea have two children, Victoria and Broderick. Tim enjoys being involved in his children’s activities and has coached both of them in minor hockey. As an avid sports fan, Tim’s favorite teams are the Vancouver Canucks, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he is a season ticket holder, and he enjoys taking in as many games as possible. He also plays hockey recreationally, and he is known for his powerful skating stride and soft hands around the net.
In his spare time, Tim enjoys many outdoor activities, from hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and skiing, many of which they enjoy together as a family at their cabin at Fishing Lake. Tim also enjoys the arts, collecting coins, drawing, painting and dabbling in photography, as well as reading personal development books. Tim tries to keep everything light through his keen sense of humour, and he puts those around him at ease through his easy-going and fun-loving nature.

Lindsay joined the Sutton Wealth Planning in 2013 to fulfill a new role, Operations Manager. She is responsible for managing the office logistics and execution of business strategies. Lindsay provides value to our clients by coordinating processes behind the scenes, so the rest of our team can deliver the highest level of client service.
Bringing over 9 years of managerial experience with her, Lindsay previously worked as Operations Manager at JABA Construction. Lindsay graduated with distinction from McKay Career Training. She also attended the University of Lethbridge, Southwest Regional College and the Saskatoon Business College, taking various classes of interest and classes for career advancement. Additionally, Lindsay holds certificates in Personal Leadership Effectiveness Coaching, Dale Carnegie Coaching, Safety Management, Basic Training Techniques, and Leadership for Safety Excellence Proficiency.
Lindsay married her high school sweetheart, a welder/fabricator with Brandt, here in Saskatoon. Together, they have one daughter, passionate about cheer, and one son, who terrifies her with his skills in parkour. They have a large, shepherd great pyrenes cross who they all adore. Lindsay enjoys experimenting with graphic design & photography, continual learning and singing the occasional karaoke tune. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially for game nights, movie nights and dog park dates. She loves watching her kids participate in all their activities, binging on Netflix and camping in the summer.

Melanie is one of the Service Managers at Sutton Wealth Planning, working closely with and assisting Tim Hansen. As a Service Manager, Melanie develops and manages the relationship with our personal clients to ensure their needs are being met and they are connected to the firm.
Melanie graduated from the Saskatoon Business College with Honors in Administrative Assistant in 2002. She started with Sutton Wealth Planning in 2012 and has worked in the Financial Services industry since 2004. Melanie holds her Life Insurance and Accident & Sickness Insurance License and enjoys the additional challenge this designation brings.
Melanie has been married to her husband, Dave since 1989. Together, they have three sons, Andrew, Matthew and Daniel, who fortunately for Melanie, all live close by her. Melanie and Dave have four beautiful grandsons and one long awaited granddaughter, that they enjoy spending time with and attending their various sporting events such as hockey, swimming and kickboxing. She enjoys gardening, cooking and sewing in her spare time, as well as the peaceful aspects of small-town living. During the summer months, Melanie and Dave enjoy fishing and spending time at Delaronde Lake. They hope to enjoy a family vacation with their children and grandchildren in the next 5 years.

Evan Verbeem, B.Eon, QAFP is a Wealth Advisor Associate with Sutton Wealth Planning, providing a supportive role to Jay Stark and a pleasant experience for our clients. Beyond his role as Wealth Advisor Associate, Evan is also a Pension Advisor Associate at Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc. educating and assisting business clients with their pension plans.
Evan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from the University of Saskatchewan. He holds his Life Insurance and Securities Licensing to better serve our clients He worked with the Credit Union in his hometown before joining Sutton Wealth Planning and Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc in 2014.
Evan was born in Weyburn and grew up in McTaggart, along with his three brothers. Evan lives with his long-term girlfriend, Kaitlin, and together they have a beta fish named Fishie. In his spare time, Evan enjoys reading fantasy books, playing board games, and is interested in general health and exercise. For fun, Evan loves to curl, both competitively and recreationally and plays cards with family and friends.

Erin is the newest Service Manager on our team, providing support to our Advisors, working closely with Stuart Sutton as well as enhancing the overall experience of our clients.
Erin started with Sutton Wealth Planning in 2015 as a Service Associate before moving into the Service Manager position in 2017. Erin brings customer service and management experience with her from her previous employment. She attended one year at the University of Brandon before getting her Travel Counsellor Diploma, and worked in the travel industry for five years, switching gears in the last few years to pursue a career in the financial industry.
Hailing from Manitoba originally, Erin is the youngest in her family, with a sister, half-sister and half-brother. She has four nephews she enjoys going home to Manitoba to visit regularly. Erin enjoys staying active by practicing and teaching Pilates part-time at Saskatoon Loves Pilates. She is also a seasonal runner having run three 10 km races. Erin is an avid food lover and enjoys exploring new restaurants in the community and trying her hand at new dishes in the kitchen. Travelling is another passion of Erin’s where she enjoys exploring new destinations for their history, culture, art, and of course food. Some of her favourite places visited are Peru, Turkey, Kenya, Malta and Italy, however, according to her, the list will never end. Aside from travelling and food, spending time with her friends is very important to Erin, since her friends are like family to her as her family is so far away.

Currently away on maternity leave, Jessie joined Sutton Wealth Planning on June 3, 2019 to provide administrative support and enhance the overall experience of our clients. She is also a Service Associate at Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc. providing support to business clients.
Jessie has been in the customer service industry since she got her first job at the age of 14. Previous to joining Sutton Wealth Planning and Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc., Jessie was providing support for brokers and maintaining client accounts in the general insurance industry.
Originally from Glaslyn, SK, Jessie moved to Saskatoon in 2011 where she met her husband. They got married in Las Vegas in 2017 and are enjoying the quiet life on an acreage outside the city. They have a chihuahua named Cooper, two cats, Oliver and Garfield and they welcomed the arrival of a new baby On March 8, 2020. In her spare time, she loves doing anything fitness related, reading, listening to podcasts, playing Fantasy Football in her women’s league and beating her husband at cribbage. She also loves good food, vacations and spending time with friends and family.

Danae joined our team January 2nd, 2020. She supports client experience and is responsible for analytics and administration required for the preparation and processing of investment accounts at Sutton Wealth Planning. She is also a Service Associate at Sutton Benefits & Pension Inc providing support for business clients.
Danae brings with her many years of customer service experience. When she was very young, she would greet and help customers at her then family owned confectionary store in Wilbert. She spent 6 months volunteering in the Katimavik program in BC and Quebec, which inspired her to enroll in University in Quebec to learn French for a year. She transferred to the U of R to complete her education graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting (2018). After 2 years in the accounting role, she decided to pursue a career in the wealth planning industry.
Danae is originally from Cut Knife and she made Saskatoon her new home in the fall of 2018. She has two female cats, Penny and Piper, who are very playful and cuddly. She also has two nephews she loves spending time with. In her spare time, she plays Rugby with the Kirin Women’s Rugby team and dodgeball in the off-season, enjoys yoga and the benefits of meditation.

Lorraine joined the team April 1, 2019 after Chelsea left for her maternity leave. She is responsible for reception and assisting the team in the day-to-day activities to help keep Sutton Wealth Planning running smoothly.
Lorraine graduated from Saskatoon Business College in 1987. After graduation, she worked for a law firm for 4 years. She used the experience she gained there to work for an agriculture lender for 2 years and then decided to raise a family and run a daycare business for 25 years.
Lorraine and her husband, Brad have been married for 30 years. They have two grown children, Michelle and Ryan. She enjoys playing golf and reading. She also enjoys warm vacations and downhill skiing.

Lexie has joined our team on a part time basis as she continues her studies with the University of Saskatchewan. She graduated from Walter Murray in June 2018 and joined Sutton Wealth Planning in March of 2019. Lexie is responsible for supportive administrative duties for the team and assists Lorraine with reception greeting clients.
Her parents are Jay and Sheri Stark, she has a sister named Sydney and a dog named Ginger. She enjoys traveling the world with her family or friends and creating memories with them. When she has some down time, Lexie loves going to the lake or going on adventures with her friends.
